Pig Feed Mill
RICHI offers pig feed mill systems with capacities ranging from 1 to 100 tons per hour. We provide customized production solutions for operations of all sizes—from small-scale lines and medium-sized processing plants to large-scale industrial enterprises—covering everything from initial design and equipment selection to installation, commissioning, and long-term after-sales support.
RICHI has delivered pig feed plant projects to over 140 countries worldwide. Each project is tailored to the specific raw materials, production capacity, market demands, and facility layout of the feed manufacturer. Currently, over 90% of these plants are consistently profitable and maintain a strong, ongoing partnership with us.
Custom-designed pig feed mill
Every pig feed mill is different. For example, some feed producers simply want to build a mill to supply feed to their own farms. Other commercial feed companies want a processing system capable of continuous and stable production. In fact, in RICHI’s over 30 years of project experience, we’ve encountered far more than just these two scenarios. Differences also exist in raw materials, output, pellet size, product type, and many other aspects. Therefore, we understand that a single standard solution cannot be applied when building a pig feed mill.
This is why RICHI designs production solutions with a customer-centric approach, rather than focusing on fixed equipment.
Whether you want to produce piglet feed, sow feed, finishing pig feed, or mixed pig feed, our engineers will start from your actual needs, conduct a comprehensive assessment, and then provide a professional and specific process flow.

The pig feed market isn’t limited to just one form of feed. We’ve taken this into account. Pig feed mills can produce pelleted feed, powdered pig feed, premixes, mixed feeds, and more. This significantly expands business opportunities for pig feed producers.

Application in pig feed mills
Pig feed mills are known for their flexibility. This is thanks to the modular design of the entire production process. RICHI can adapt to specific customer needs, processing different feed ingredients into various product categories to meet diverse market demands.
Geeignete Rohstoffe
In the thousands of projects we’ve completed, we’ve seen diverse clients using locally sourced ingredients to produce pig feed. For example, in Southeast Asia, agricultural byproducts like cassava pulp, rice bran, and palm oil meal are commonly used. African clients, on the other hand, utilize grain byproducts such as corn and cassava. Furthermore, some projects have seen clients incorporate local fishmeal and shrimp meal into their feed formulations to enhance the nutritional value of their pig feed.
In general, raw materials are not the primary concern; pig feed mill systems can process almost any ingredient, including corn, wheat, soybean meal, rice bran, coconut meal, fishmeal, and mineral and vitamin premixes. RICHI’s approach is to design the entire production process, from raw material receipt to finished product packaging, based on one of the core requirements of the raw materials. It is precisely because of processes perfectly aligned with actual needs that efficiency and product quality are maximized.

Suitable for producing pig feed at all stages

A feed mill can produce piglet feed, finishing feed, sow feed, and customized pig feed. If you’re considering starting a pig feed mill, the first question to consider is what kind of feed to produce. This will determine the direction of all production processes.
For piglet feed, the most important aspects are controlling pellet size and precisely meeting calcium requirements. Therefore, many production lines are equipped with pelleting systems to control pellet diameter between 1.5-2.5mm. As pigs enter their growth stage, their energy needs must keep pace. Efficient grinding and precise batching systems are key to improving feed absorption. Nutritional additives in sow feed can be retained in the feed pellets using mixing and batching systems.
Beyond pelleted feed, Pig feed production plants can also produce powdered feed, concentrated feed, and even high-end extruded feed.
How to make pig feed?
A complete pig feed mill process includes raw material receiving, cleaning, grinding, mixing, pelleting, cooling, screening, and packaging. However, not every feed project includes all these processes. Most commonly, steps are omitted or added due to differences in actual raw materials, products, and production capacity.
For example, an Indonesian customer needed to produce both pig feed and floating fish feed simultaneously. We only added a fish feed extruder at the pelleting stage, sharing the grinding, mixing, and cooling systems. This reduced capital investment while maintaining quality.

Rohstoffverarbeitung
01
Before any process begins, the cleaning equipment removes dust, stones, and other impurities from the raw materials. This not only prevents machine jams but also improves the quality of the feed product from the very beginning.
Schleifen
02
This step is not necessary. The production line only uses a pulverizer when the raw material size is too large or inconsistent. In this case, the pulverizer breaks the raw material into 2–3 mm powder. This is the optimal range for granulation.
Mischen
03
In this step, you can add various liquid nutrients such as molasses and oils. The mixer will quickly agitate the feed, evenly mixing the various nutrients. This is an important step in the production of standardized products.
Pelletierung
04
Das Schweinefutter-Pelletiermaschine is the core equipment of the entire production line. Raw materials undergo three stages: feeding, conditioning, and pelleting, producing pellets of 2-12mm. Of course, this step can be omitted when producing powdered feed.
Kühlung und Siebung
05
To prevent freshly made pellets from molding, pig feed mill production lines are typically equipped with coolers to quickly lower the pellet temperature. During this process, the cold air also removes moisture from the pellet surface, reducing mold growth. Afterward, a screening system ensures that all pellets are compact and uniform.
Verpackung
06
Finally, the feed can be packaged. You can choose an automated packaging system or manual baling, depending on your investment budget and production needs.

Häufig gestellte Fragen
When building a pig feed mill, you may encounter various issues. You can choose to contact us for a free consultation or refer to the frequently asked questions below for solutions.
1. How much investment is needed for a pig feed mill?
+
Equipment investment alone typically ranges from $10,000 to $3 million. However, building a Pig feed manufacturing plant involves much more. Costs such as civil engineering, raw material procurement, infrastructure construction, and transportation often consume significantly more of the investment. Moreover, these investments are essential for long-term operation. In total, the total investment for a Pig feed manufacturing plant is approximately between $80,000 and $40,000.
For clients new to the pig feed industry, seeking expert assistance is a worthwhile consideration. They will generate a professional business plan to address any gaps in industry experience and technical planning for newcomers.
2. How long does it take to build a pig feed mill?
+
If you are building a new pig feed plant, you need to consider not only the setup time of the pig feed production line, but also:
| Project Stage | Main Activities | Estimated Time |
| Site Selection & Project Planning | Selecting a suitable location, evaluating raw material availability, power supply, transportation, and production requirements | 2–8 weeks |
| Factory Design & Engineering | Production line layout, equipment configuration, electrical and civil engineering design | 2–4 weeks |
| Factory Construction (If Required) | Land preparation, workshop construction, storage facilities, and infrastructure installation | 1–6 months |
