The RICHI sawdust hammer mill features a teardrop-shaped design. It is capable of processing irregularly shaped sawdust waste into a uniform powder, ensuring the smooth operation of the subsequent wood pelletizing process.

When designing the sawdust hammer mill, RICHI engineers assessed the characteristics of sawdust and other wood raw materials and completed targeted upgrades to the materials and core components. This allows the equipment to operate smoothly and efficiently in high-hardness, fibrous materials.
Feed inlet
A flow guide plate at the feed inlet directs material smoothly into the granulation chamber and prevents it from spraying upward.
Crushing chamber
The advanced teardrop-shaped grinding chamber redirects oversized material back into the impact zone until the final product meets size specifications.
Durable hammer blades
Wood chips cause significant wear on the equipment. Therefore, the hammers are made of No. 45 high-carbon steel, which offers excellent wear resistance. Additionally, both ends of the hammerhead are usable. When one end wears down, simply reverse the hammer to keep it working and extend its service life.
Rotor
After machining, all rotors undergo inspection using a high-precision dynamic balancing machine to ensure the centrifugal force error is less than 5 grams.
Thickened mesh screen
Compared to standard feed ingredients, sawdust fibers are harder and cause significantly more wear on components. Consequently, the screen has been thickened to ensure it resists deformation and damage during prolonged operation.
Access door
To ensure worker safety, we equip both access doors with safety interlocks. The control cabinet only allows the crusher to operate when the doors are fully closed and latched, activating the safety switches.

How does a sawdust hammer mill work?
- Feeding
Cleaned raw material enters the crushing chamber through the inlet. - Trituración
The motor drives the rotor to rotate at high speed. Hammer blades strike the material violently, repeatedly breaking it down. - Cribado
Only material crushed to the desired size passes through the screen; larger particles remain in the chamber for further crushing. - Discharge
The sawdust hammer mill is equipped with a negative-pressure fan that extracts the processed sawdust and discharges it from the machine, completing the crushing process.

Besides processing wood, what other raw materials can a sawdust grinder process?
In addition to wood, the sawdust pulverizer can process a variety of biomass raw materials, such as:

Can it directly shred whole logs and long timber?
No, it is not suitable. The sawdust hammer mill is designed for fine grinding and is only appropriate for processing wood blocks, wood chips, and offcuts smaller than 5 cm. Feeding in oversized material can clog the machine and burn out the motor.
If your raw material consists of whole logs or other large pieces, we generally recommend using a wood chipper, shredder, or pallet crusher to perform a preliminary size reduction first.
