By flexibly adjusting feed formulations and production processes, this small production line can produce feed for tilapia, carp, salmon, catfish, and other fish, as well as pet food. Moreover, each type of feed pellet is of high quality and easily digestible, making it highly competitive in the fish feed and pet food markets.

Through the coordinated operation of multiple systems—crushing, mixing, pelleting, drying, cooling, and packaging—they can process various grains, oils, and protein raw materials to produce high-quality fish, shrimp, and crab feed pellets. We have even designed fish and livestock compound feed production lines for clients to process different types of pelleted feed.

Small scale fish feed plant production process

Do you want to know how to make fish pellets? Before finalizing the production process, we’ll first ask you some questions: such as whether you want to produce floating or sinking fish feed, your production volume, budget, and raw material formula…

Afterwards, we’ll test your raw materials to obtain more precise information on moisture, oil, and protein content. Based on this data, our professional engineers will design a production plan, equipment configuration, and equipment parameters. You will then get a solution that better meets your actual needs. Generally speaking, small-scale fish feed mills do not require overly complex configurations and have lower investment costs.

A standard fish feed production process typically includes: raw material cleaning → crushing → mixing → pelleting → drying and cooling → coating → packaging.

Before processing fish feed pellets, impurities in the materials must be removed using raw material cleaning equipment.

Because fish and shrimp have relatively small mouths, they require even smaller particle sizes. In the crushing section, materials typically undergo two crushing processes—coarse and ultrafine.

When processing fish feed pellets, two mixing processes are generally required. First, a mixer thoroughly mixes the large materials. Then, a small amount of oil and liquid additives are added. It is important to note that the oil content of the materials should be controlled below 8% to prevent slippage.

We will select suitable pellet mills for small scale fish feed plants. Raw materials are rapidly processed into porous extruded feed or compact sinking feed under high temperature, conditioning, and extrusion. In actual projects, fish and shrimp feed pellets can remain intact for up to 24 hours, extending the feeding time of farmed fish.

The drying and cooling processes remove moisture and heat from the granules, making them more compact. The granules then enter a screening machine to remove broken or defective particles, which are then recycled. In this way, standardized commodity granules are produced.

If you wish to add more grease to improve the palatability of the granules, you can do so at this stage. We manufacture specialized spraying machines that evenly coat granules with grease. Afterward, the finished granules are packaged for storage or sale.

After high-temperature puffing, a honeycomb-like porous structure forms inside the pellets. When placed in water, they quickly float to the surface, making them easy for surface-dwelling fish to feed on. This process also kills pathogens in the feed, reducing the risk of disease in the fish.
